Top Five Flying Cars and It's Latest Model Available

The Transition Is A Personal Air Vehicle Designed To Make General Aviation More Practical For Personal Transportation

Yes, this is going to be another flying car post in which we lament our current, terrestrial ways and our predominantly Earth-bound means of getting places. NASA has what it thinks is the solution, a personal flying machine called Puffin that is just large enough for a person to wedge themselves into before lurching off vertically, powered by a pair of electric motors.

Developers unveiled a scale model of the redesigned Transition "roadable aircraft" (pictured in a digital rendering) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Monday.

The new design is both a rear-wheel drive road vehicle and a light sport aircraft that can cruise at 105 miles (170 kilometers) an hour.

Developed by the Terrafugia company, the tweaked design—which adds carlike headlights and a license plate holder, among other things—follows a proof-of-concept Transition, which was successfully tested in 2009.

Formula One stars Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button have led the tributes to tragic British IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon, who was killed in a high-speed crash yesterday.

The 33-year-old suffered “unsurvivable injuries” after his vehicle was sent flying into the air and burst into flames in the 15-car smash during the Las Vegas Indy 300.

The dad-of-two was airlifted to hospital where he later died of his injuries, with his wife Susie and young sons Sebastian and Oliver by his side.

British F1 ace Lewis Hamilton, who finished second for McLaren in yesterday’s Korean Grand Prix, described Dan as “an extremely talented driver”.

The 26-year-old said: “"This is an extremely sad day.

"Dan was a racer I'd followed throughout my career, as I often followed in his footsteps as we climbed the motorsport ladder in the UK.

"He was an extremely talented driver. As a British guy, who not only went over to the States but who twice won the Indy 500, he was an inspirational guy, and someone that every racing driver looked up to with respect and admiration.

"This is a tragic loss at such a young age. My heart goes out to his family and friends during this extremely difficult time."

The Transition is a Personal Air Vehicle (PAV) designed to make general aviation more practical for personal transportation. From start-up company Terrafugi, the Transition drives like a car on public roads and can transition into an aircraft at the nearest airport by lowering its 27-foot wings and taking off. As an aircraft it has a top speed of 130mph, a range of 500 miles and can carry a payload of 430 pounds. One stop gives you over a thousand miles of range inside eight hours.

The Transition delivers 30 mpg in either car or plane mode and promises a true integrated roadable aircraft at an economically compelling price.

Dietrich is keen to get his Transition out there because he fears that if a freely available, low cost form of air transportation doesn’t come along, hundreds of airports across America will close. He’s principally betting that the timing is right – Personal Air Vehicles are inevitable, and to date there has been no spark that has ignited public demand, and one that doubles as a car would supercharge the American aviation industry.

Couple Dietrich’s drive and skill with a viable, high bang-per-buck PAV design and we think this could be big, really big!

Of course it’s not just Carl. Terrafugia was founded by a team of high achieving graduates of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was incorporated earlier this year. Currently based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Terrafugia will “combine solid aircraft design fundamentals with a focus on creativity and customer service.

The Transition weighs 1,320 pounds, hold two adults and luggage, and it’s all driven by a 100 horsepower engine. It can cruise at an altitude of 3,500 up to 8,000 feet and can fly up to 12,000 feet.

Top five flying cars-

For more than five decades, science fiction has been tormenting us with hallucination of in-the-air roadways and hastily choreographing sports car-like flying cars. A number of businesses have been hunting the reverie for such a long time.

NASA's PAV (Personal Air Vehicle) Challenge could do a great job to chase the wild dream. To kindle rapid modernism and advancement in PAV performance, NASA has funded $2,000,000 in cash prizes for the PAV flight competition. Here is a list of some of the flying cars, including some vehicles that have taken a voyage in the air while some are waiting to do the same in the near future.

1. Mad Ludwig's flying car-

Unfortunately, this ingenious man King Ludwig II of Bavaria was declared insane 10 June, 1886 and was deposed. And now, after around 120 years after his death, scientists are saying that he was a one of the pioneers of flight. Now, aeronautical specialists have found hiss drawings of the flying peacock car out and re-established them on computer.

2. Aerocar International's Aerocar-

Dubbed the Taylor Aerocar, the American roadable aircraft was built in 1949 by Moulton Taylor. The Aerocar III, which was the final model built by Taylor was colored red had had silver wings.

3. PAL-V: Personal Air and Land Vehicle-

PAL-V Europe BV aims to build everybody's dream in mobility, a full-fledged flying and full-fledged driving vehicle.

Excerpt from the company's page: Steer it like a car and it banks like a motorcycle. It sounds deceivingly simple. And it truly is.

At the heart of the PAL-V lies the Dynamic Vehicle Control (DVC™) system which automatically adjusts the tilt angle of the cockpit to the speed and acceleration of the vehicle enabling a plane-like 'tilting before cornering'.

4. Moller M200X flying car-

The M200X was invented by Moller back in the year 1989, which has now been taken to the air 200 times and can go as high as 50 feet.

5. Skycar M400:

Moller's latest design The dream flying machine is one of its kind personal vertical take off and landing (VTOL) vehicle that can cruise at a maximum speed of 375 MPH at 13,200 ft. The asking price of a Skycar is estimated to be about $1 million, but we can hope it to get as low as $60,000 when it will be mass produced.

Ultimate fragment of human fantasy is to chase down the wildest dream. Chasing the dream of flying in the air, above the others, feeling just wonderful with sense of exhalation and freedom, the belief is to create a flying machine and fly around the city of reverie.

Because our flying ambitions need just more, we have some prominent names creating their own little souvenirs to give wings to our flying dreams, in flying cars and jetpacks. You’ll be using a few just ever so soon – provided you have cash or might to crack a bank.

Keanu Reeves Spoke of His English Ancestry

Keanu Reeves Will Star In The Live-Action Film Adaptation of The Anime Series-

Keanu Reeves
Reeves at The Lake House London premiere, September 2006
Born Keanu Charles Reeves
September 2, 1964 (age 47)
Beirut, Lebanon
Nationality Canadian
Occupation Actor
Years active 1985–present

Keanu Charles Reeves ( born September 2, 1964) is a Canadian actor. Reeves is perhaps best known for his roles in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Speed, Point Break and the science fiction-action trilogy The Matrix

He has worked under major directors, such as Stephen Frears (in the 1988 period drama Dangerous Liaisons); Gus Van Sant (in the 1991 independent film My Own Private Idaho, also written by Van Sant); and Bernardo Bertolucci (in the 1993 film Little Buddha). Referencing his 1991 film releases, The New York Times critic Janet Maslin praised Reeves' versatility, saying that he "displays considerable discipline and range. He moves easily between the buttoned-down demeanour that suits a police procedural story and the loose-jointed manner of his comic roles."

In addition to his film roles, Reeves has also performed in theatre. His performance in the title role in a Manitoba Theatre Centre production of Hamlet was praised by Roger Lewis, the Sunday Times, who declared Reeves "...one of the top three Hamlets I have seen, for a simple reason: he is Hamlet." On January 31, 2005, Reeves received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A 2006 ET online survey placed him in the "Top Ten of America's Favorite Stars".

In January 2011, on the BBC program 'The One Show', he spoke of his English ancestry, via his mother, mentioning his happy watching of 'The Two Ronnies' comedy show amongst others when younger, and how his mother imparted English manners that he still has today.

In January 2009, it was revealed that Reeves will star in the live-action film adaptation of the anime series Cowboy Bebop, slated for release in 2011.

Other upcoming projects include the samurai film 47 Ronin, Chef – story by Reeves and written by Steven Knight, and a modern retelling of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, scripted by Justin Haythe and titled Jekyll. Nicolas Winding Refn is in negotiations to direct and was later replaced by Dennis Iliadis and produced by Universal Pictures.

In April 2011 Reeves confirmed that a third installment of the Bill & Ted movie series was underway.

In 2010, photos of a sad-looking Keanu Reeves eating a sandwich while alone led to the spread of the "Keanu is Sad/Sad Keanu" Internet meme and the declaration of June 15 as "Unofficial Cheer-up Keanu Day" by a Facebook fanpage.

It is one of the most iconic scenes in modern cinema history.

But Keanu Reeves and Chloe Moretz have stunningly recreated the hotel room sequence from the Oscar nominated 1976 film Taxi Driver.

The shot is part of a Harper's Bazaar pictorial in honour of the film's director Martin Scorsese to celebrate his latest release and take a look back over some of his most famous movie moments.

Music-

Reeves played bass guitar in the grunge band Dogstar during the 1990s. In the 2000s, he performed with the band Becky.

The actor was left reeling when his girlfriend Jennifer Syme died in a car accident in 2001.

She had given birth to their daughter Ava Archer who was stillborn.
Reeves has recently wrapped filming in Budapest on his upcoming movie 47 Ronin, which is a remake of the 1994 Japanese film.

The epic period tale is now continuing production in England.
The film is a story of 'honor, revenge and impossible love' which is famous in Japan and is based on a true story.

Keanu Reeves has never married and seems to lead a sad and lonely existence if internet postings are to be believed.

But it appears the 46-year-old actor may finally have something to be happy about after he was pictured with a mystery woman in London yesterday.

The actor managed to raise a smile as he left Nobu Berkley restaurant with the pretty brunette.

With is long hair and unshaven face, the Matrix star was his usual camera shy self but seemed to be happy being in the lady's company.

He carried a cycle helmet in his hand and was dressed down in jeans, T-shirt and green jacket.

His date looked slender in a grey top, short denim skirt and had a large scarf wrapped around her neck.

Jackie Chan, SBS, MBE (born Chan Kong-sang, 陳港生; 7 April 1954) is a Hong Kong actor, action choreographer, filmmaker, comedian, director, producer, martial artist, screenwriter, entrepreneur, singer and stunt performer. In his movies, he is known for his acrobatic fighting style, comic timing, use of improvised weapons, and innovative stunts. Jackie Chan has been acting since the 1960s and has appeared in over 100 films.

Chan has received stars on the Hong Kong Avenue of Stars and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. As a cultural icon, Chan has been referenced in various pop songs, cartoons, and video games. An operatically trained vocalist, Chan is also a Cantopop and Mandopop star, having released a number of albums and sung many of the theme songs for the films in which he has starred.

His films have since featured an increasing number of dramatic scenes while continuing to succeed at the box office; examples include New Police Story (2004), The Myth (2005) and the hit film Rob-B-Hood (2006). Chan's next release was the third installment in the Rush Hour series: Rush Hour 3 in August 2007.

It grossed US$255 million. However, it performed poorly in Hong Kong, grossing only HK$3.5 million during its opening weekend.

Rush Hour star Jackie Chan is spearheading a charity concert to benefit Japan's earthquake and tsunami victims. The event, dubbed the Love Without Borders 3/11 Candelight Gala, takes place April 1 at Hong Kong's Victoria Park and participants include singers such as Alan Tam, Shirley Kwan and Chinese-American rapper Jin.

The group has recorded the song "Succmb Not to Sorrow" which is based on a Japanese poem and serves as the theme for the concert.

New experiments and change in style-

On 22 June 2009, Chan left Los Angeles to begin filming The Karate Kid, a remake of the 1984 original, in Beijing. The film was released in America on 11 June 2010 and sees Chan's first dramatic American film. In the film, he plays Mr. Han, a kung fu master and maintenance man who teaches Jaden Smith's character, Dre, kung-fu so he can defend himself from school bullies. In Chan's next movie, Shaolin, he plays the cook of the temple instead of one of the major characters.

Jackie Chan's 100th film 1911 was released on 26 September 2011. He is the co-director, executive producer, and lead star of the movie.

Jackie Chan won the Favorite Buttkicker award at the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards in 2011 for The Karate Kid.

2011 in Iraq-

Moktada al-Sadr returned to Iraq in the holy city of Najaf to lead the Sadrist movement after being in exile since 2007.

During the year the proclaimed terrorist group al-Qaeda in Iraq was eventually defeated in May after Huthaifa al-Batawi was killed and who was the only man left in the group as the head leader.

On January 15, 2011, three U.S. troops were killed in Iraq. One of the troops was killed on a military operation in central Iraq, while the other two troops were deliberately shot by one or two Iraqi soldiers during a training exercise.

On June 6, 2011, five U.S. troops were killed in an apparent rocket attack on Camp Victory, located near Baghdad International Airport. A sixth soldier, who was wounded in the attack, died 10 days later of his wounds.

On June 29, 2011, three U.S. troops were killed in a rocket attack on a U.S. base located near the border with Iran. It was speculated that the militant group responsible for the attack was the same one which attacked Camp Victory just over three weeks before. With the three deaths, June 2011, became the bloodiest month in Iraq for the U.S. military since June 2009, with 15 U.S. soldiers killed, only one of them outside combat.

In September 2011, Iraq signed a contract to buy 18 Lockheed Martin F-16 warplanes, becoming the 26th nation to operate the F-16. Because of windfall profits from oil, the Iraqi government is planning to double this originally planned 18, to 36 F-16s. Iraq is relying on the U.S. military for air support as it rebuilds its forces and battles a stubborn Islamist insurgency. Washington and Baghdad are discussing whether to keep some U.S. troops or military trainers in Iraq beyond the year-end deadline for U.S. departure.

BRITAIN regrets going to war in Iraq and knows it must work to repair the damage done to its international standing, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg was due to tell world leaders yesterday.

In a speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Mr Clegg will say Britain has learned ''the hard way'' that democracy cannot be imposed on other countries.

His speech risks dividing Britain's coalition government by antagonising senior Conservatives, whose party backed Tony Blair's decision to invade with the US in 2003.

In late February 2009, newly elected U.S. President Barack Obama announced an 18-month withdrawal window for combat forces, with approximately 50,000 troops remaining in the country "to advise and train Iraqi security forces and to provide intelligence and surveillance". General Ray Odierno, the top U.S. military commander in Iraq, said he believes all U.S. troops will be out of the country by the end of 2011, while UK forces ended combat operations on April 30, 2009.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has said he supports the accelerated pullout of U.S. forces. In a speech at the Oval Office on 31 August 2010 Obama declared "the American combat mission in Iraq has ended. Operation Iraqi Freedom is over, and the Iraqi people now have lead responsibility for the security of their country."

Mr Clegg's party, the Liberal Democrats, consistently opposed the invasion. Mr Clegg caused controversy earlier this year when standing in for Prime Minister David Cameron by saying the invasion had been illegal.

Most significantly, Saddam Hussein himself was captured on December 13, 2003, on a farm near Tikrit in Operation Red Dawn. The operation was conducted by the United States Army's 4th Infantry Division and members of Task Force 121. Intelligence on Saddam's whereabouts came from his family members and former bodyguards.

With the capture of Hussein and a drop in the number of insurgent attacks, some concluded the multinational forces were prevailing in the fight against the insurgency. The provisional government began training the new Iraqi security forces intended to police the country, and the United States promised over $20 billion in reconstruction money in the form of credit against Iraq's future oil revenues. Oil revenue was also used for rebuilding schools and for work on the electrical and refining infrastructure.

Shortly after the capture of Hussein, elements left out of the Coalition Provisional Authority began to agitate for elections and the formation of an Iraqi Interim Government. Most prominent among these was the Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani. The Coalition Provisional Authority opposed allowing democratic elections at this time. The insurgents stepped up their activities. The two most turbulent centers were the area around Fallujah and the poor Shia sections of cities from Baghdad (Sadr City) to Basra in the south.

U.S. officials blamed al-Qaeda. The targeted villagers belonged to the non-Muslim Yazidi ethnic minority.

The attack may have represented the latest in a feud that erupted earlier that year when members of the Yazidi community stoned to death a teenage girl called Du'a Khalil Aswad accused of dating a Sunni Arab man and converting to Islam. in March 2010 led to the creation of a government of national unity, although only after eight months of political stalemate that played out mostly along sectarian lines. Under a 2008 agreement between Iraq and the United States, about 48,000 American troops remaining in Iraq must leave by the end of 2011. As part of that agreement, the Iraqi government ultimately will decide if it wants some troops to remain.

While the Americans privately told their Iraqi counterparts that they wanted some troops to stay and the government of Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki has been privately telling the Americans that it wants their army to stay, a number of Iraqi political factions have publicly resisted the idea of a continued American military presence — notably the Sadrists, led by Moktada al-Sadr, an anti-American Shiite cleric who has called on his followers to attack American forces if they remain after the deadline.

In September, administration officials said that Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta had proposed a plan that would keep 3,000 to 4,000 American troops in Iraq after a deadline for their withdrawal at year’s end, but only to continue training security forces there.

The recommendation would break a longstanding pledge by President Obama to withdraw all American forces from Iraq by the deadline. But it would still involve significantly fewer forces than proposals presented at the Pentagon by the senior American commander in Iraq, Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III, to keep as many as 14,000 to 18,000 troops there.

In October, Iraq's leaders announced that they had agreed on the need to keep American military trainers in the country in 2012, but they declared that any remaining troops should not be granted immunity from Iraqi law, a point the United States has said would be a deal breaker.

U.S. withdrawal-

On February 17, 2010, U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates announced that as of September 1, 2010, the name "Operation Iraqi Freedom" would be replaced by "Operation New Dawn".

On April 18, 2010, US and Iraqi forces killed Abu Ayyub al-Masri the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq in a joint American and Iraqi operation near Tikrit, Iraq. The coalition forces believed al-Masri to be wearing a suicide vest and proceeded cautiously.

After the lengthy exchange of fire and bombing of the house, the Iraqi troops stormed inside and found two women still alive, one of whom was al-Masri's wife, and four dead men, identified as al-Masri, Abu Abdullah al-Rashid al-Baghdadi, an assistant to al-Masri, and al-Baghdadi's son. A suicide vest was indeed found found on al-Masri's corpse, as the Iraqi Army subsequently stated.

His nude fight scene in a steam room was applauded by Roger Ebert: "Years from now, it will be referred to as a benchmark." Mortensen's performance in Eastern Promises resulted in his winning the Best Performance by an Actor in a British Independent Film award from the British Independent Film Awards. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor.

In 2009, Mortensen appeared as himself in the film Reclaiming The Blade, in which he discussed his passion for the sword and his sword-work in films such as The Lord of the Rings and Alatriste. Mortensen also talked about his work with Bob Anderson, the swordmaster on The Lord of the Rings, Alatriste, Pirates of the Caribbean and many others.

In 2009, Mortensen performed in The People Speak, a documentary feature film that uses dramatic and musical performances of the letters, diaries, and speeches of everyday Americans, based on historian Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States.

In April 2009 Mortensen revealed in an interview that he had, at least temporarily, retired from film acting as the schedule required for promoting a film is too stressful. In 2010 he joined the cast of The Road, a film adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name, and collaborated with David Cronenberg for a third time on A Dangerous Method.

He has recently made a cameo appearance in Dirty Raymond's Neighbor.

He will next work with frequent collaborator Steven Soderbergh on a project as the longtime Liberace love interest, Scott Thorsen, opposite Michael Douglas in an upcoming film centered on the pianist's life. He will also star in We Bought a Zoo, and has been cast to play in Elysium.

Producing career-

Along with Affleck and producers Chris Moore and Sean Bailey, Damon founded the production company LivePlanet, through which the four created the documentary series Project Greenlight to find and fund worthwhile film projects from novice filmmakers.

The company produced and founded the short-lived mystery-hybrid series Push, Nevada, among other projects. Project Greenlight was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program in 2002, 2004, and 2005.

In March 2010, Damon and Affleck teamed up again to sign a first-look production deal with Warner Bros.

Matthew Paige "Matt" Damon (born October 8, 1970) is an American actor, screenwriter, and philanthropist whose career was launched following the success of the film Good Will Hunting (1997), from a screenplay he co-wrote with friend Ben Affleck.

The pair won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay for their work and Damon garnered multiple Best Actor nominations, including the Academy Award, for his lead performance in the film.

Matt Damon wanted Ben Affleck to "fire" himself from his new film.

The 'Cantagion' actor wants to work with his 'Good Will Hunting' writing partner again and is jealous of the role Ben has cast himself in for his next directoral endeavor.

He said: "Ben's making a great movie now called 'Argo'. It's really, really good.

"I can't get him to put me in it because he took the best role. He took the lead. I called him and was like, 'Dude, why don't you fire yourself and put me in it man? I'd be great in this.' "

Despite the disappointment, Matt is still looking forward to working with Ben again in the future.
He added: "We really want to work together again. We have a couple of things we're developing, so we're hoping we can work together."

Ben's career stalled a decade ago with a string of flop movies and Matt feels "vindicated" that his friend has now got his professional life back on track.

He said: "That was really hard for me to watch as his friend, because I didn't think it was fair to him.
"It's more of a relief to me, to be honest. As his writing partner, I know how great he is. I always knew that better than anybody, so now I just feel vindicated. Everything is right with the Force again."

Damon has since starred in commercially successful films such as Saving Private Ryan (1998), the Ocean's trilogy, and the Bourne series, while also gaining critical acclaim for his performances in dramas such as Syriana (2005), The Good Shepherd (2006), and The Departed (2006).

He garnered a Golden Globe nomination for portraying the title character in The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) and was nominated for an Academy Award as a supporting actor in Invictus (2009). He is one of the top forty highest grossing actors of all time. In 2007, Damon received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was named Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine.

Damon has been actively involved in charitable work, including the ONE Campaign, H2O Africa Foundation, and Water.org.

In 2011, the documentary which he narrated, American Teacher, opened in New York prior to national screening.

Hollywood star-

In 2010, Damon re-teamed with director Paul Greengrass, who directed him in the Bourne Supremacy and Bourne Ultimatum, for the action thriller Green Zone, which flopped commercially and received ambivalent reception from critics.

In motion pictures that feature him either as a leading actor or as a supporting co-star, his films have grossed a total of U.S.$1.94 to U.S.$2.42 billion (based on counting his roles as strictly lead or including supporting roles, respectively) at the North American box office, placing him in the top forty grossing actors of all time.

He has appeared as a guest star in an episode of Arthur, titled The Making of Arthur, as himself. During Season 5 of 30 Rock, he appeared as guest star in the role of Liz Lemon's boyfriend in the episodes "I Do I Do," "The Fabian Strategy," "Live Show," and "Double Edged Sword."

Damon's 2010 projects included The Adjustment Bureau, Clint Eastwood's Hereafter, and the Coen Brothers' remake of the 1969 John Wayne-starring Western True Grit; the latter movie started filming in March 2010 and was released in December of that year.

Barroso gave birth to their third daughter, Stella Zavala Damon, in New York. As of 2011, Damon and his family reside in Manhattan.

Damon is a fan of the Boston Red Sox. After the team won the 2007 World Series, he narrated the commemorative DVD release of the event.

Damon enjoys playing poker and has competed in several World Series of Poker (WSOP) events including the 2010 World Series of Poker main event. He dropped $25,000 at the WSOP while researching his role as a professional poker player in Rounders (1998) and after filming the movie Damon was busted out of the 1998 WSOP by poker professional Doyle Brunson.
  • On March 27, 2010, Damon received the 24th Annual American Cinematheque Award, which was presented to him by Ben Affleck at a ceremony comprising roasts from Damon's colleagues and friends in the entertainment industry.
